Retraction Policy

The Journal of Medical Research and Clinical Evidence (JMRCE) is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the published scholarly record. Retraction of a published article is a serious action and is undertaken only when necessary to correct the literature or address ethical violations.

Grounds for Retraction

A published article may be retracted under the following circumstances:

  • Author-initiated retraction — Authors may request retraction of their published article for legitimate reasons, including the discovery of significant errors in data, methodology, or interpretation that invalidate the findings. JMRCE will honor such requests after due verification and editorial review.
  • Journal-initiated retraction — JMRCE reserves the right to initiate retraction in cases of confirmed plagiarism or duplicate publication, data fabrication or falsification, serious ethical violations including lack of required ethics committee approval, undisclosed conflicts of interest that fundamentally compromise the integrity of the work, or evidence of authorship fraud or manipulation of the peer review process.

Retraction Process

  • Upon receiving or initiating a retraction request, the Editor-in-Chief will conduct a thorough review of the circumstances in accordance with COPE retraction guidelines.
  • The corresponding author will be contacted and given an opportunity to provide an explanation before a final decision is made.
  • If retraction is warranted, a formal Retraction Notice will be published on the JMRCE website, clearly identifying the retracted article and stating the reason for retraction.
  • The original article will be retained on the JMRCE website in a clearly watermarked format (marked as "RETRACTED") to maintain transparency and preserve the integrity of the citation record. The article will not be silently removed.

Important Notice Regarding External Platforms

Authors and readers must understand that while JMRCE will promptly mark the article as retracted on its official website and update its own records, complete removal from external platforms cannot be guaranteed. Independent repositories, indexing services, academic search engines, citation databases, and content aggregators may continue to host, display, or cite the article, as these platforms operate outside the control of JMRCE. Retraction ensures correction of the record on the journal's official site but does not imply permanent erasure from the wider academic ecosystem.

Timely Retraction Request

Authors who wish to retract their article for any reason are strongly advised to submit their retraction request to the Editorial Office at the earliest possible opportunity. Delays in requesting retraction will result in wider dissemination of the published article across various online platforms, academic databases, and content aggregation services that routinely index and archive scientific publications. Once an article has been widely disseminated, its complete removal from all platforms becomes practically impossible.

Author Responsibility

Authors are strongly advised to carefully evaluate the suitability of JMRCE — including its scope, indexing status, and publication policies — prior to submission. The responsibility for ensuring that submission to JMRCE meets the specific academic, institutional, or regulatory requirements of the authors rests entirely with the authors themselves. JMRCE will not be held responsible for any consequences arising from an author's failure to verify these criteria before submission.
